Originaire de Kangiqsualujjuaq, Sandy Emudluk vit \u00e0 Kuujjuaq depuis 12 ans. Il ne devait qu\u2019\u00eatre l\u00e0 pour le festival de musique Arpik Jam, mais il n’est jamais parti. Il a rencontr\u00e9 Janice Parsons quatre ans plus tard. Ils sont devenus un couple et ont commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00eatre sur la sc\u00e8ne un an plus tard. Sandy travaille pour le Kativik Municipal Housing Bureau, connu sous le nom de KMHB, en tant que gestionnaire de logements. Il enseigne le tambour et le chant de gorge au Kuujjuaq Youth Group pendant son temps libre.
\nIl n’a jamais eu l’intention de devenir artiste, mais il a nou\u00e9 un lien avec le tambour lorsqu’il a fabriqu\u00e9 son premier tambour \u00e0 13 ans avec son professeur Daniel Annanack, de Kangiqsualujjuaq. En ce qui concerne le chant de gorge, il a appris Qimmiruluapik (la chanson du pauvre petit chiot) dans le dos de Janice et l’a surprise lorsqu’il \u00e9tait pr\u00eat. Il n’avait jamais imagin\u00e9 que cela ferait partie de sa carri\u00e8re.
\nDepuis, il a voyag\u00e9 dans de nombreux endroits, tels que Kangiqsualujjuaq, Pangirtung, Kuujjuaraapik, Ottawa, Bruxelles, Kangirsuk et Qu\u00e9bec, et a re\u00e7u de nombreuses demandes de son foyer actuel, Kuujjuaq.
\nLe couple est d\u00e9j\u00e0 tr\u00e8s occup\u00e9, et les demandes de spectacles sont fr\u00e9quentes. Lorsqu’ils acceptent une demande, ils s’entra\u00eenent dans leur salon, “avec la climatisation \u00e9videmment”, et sont pr\u00eats pour le spectacle. R\u00e9cemment, le duo a fait beaucoup de voyages, comme le festival KWE ! \u00e0 Qu\u00e9bec. Juste apr\u00e8s, dans la m\u00eame ville, ils ont particip\u00e9 \u00e0 la Journ\u00e9e autochtone du tourisme qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois, puis se sont rendus \u00e0 Kangirsuk pour une soir\u00e9e afin de collaborer avec Elisapie Isaac.
\nSandy n’a peut-\u00eatre pas beaucoup de temps \u00e0 consacrer au chant et \u00e0 la danse du tambour, mais cela ne l’emp\u00eache pas de faire ce qu’il aime, avec la personne qu’il aime. “Si vous pensez pouvoir le faire, entra\u00eenez-vous et n’abandonnez pas. Si vous \u00eates timide, cela dispara\u00eetra, vous pouvez le surmonter. Quoi que vous vouliez faire, faites-le.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originated from Kangiqsualujjuaq, Sandy Emudluk has been living in Kuujjuaq for 12 years. He was only suppose to be there for the Arpik Jam music festival, but never left. He met Janice Parsons 4 years later. They became a couple, and started performing together on stage a year after. Sandy works for the Kativik Municipal Housing Bureau, known as KMHB as the housing manager and teaches drumming and throat singing to the Kuujjuaq Youth Group during his free time.
\nHe never planned to become a performer, but he built a connection with the drum when he made his first one at 13 with his teacher Daniel Annanack from Kangiqsualujjuaq. As for throat singing, he taught himself Qimmiruluapik (the poor little puppy song) behind Janice’s back and surprised her when he was ready. He never imagined this to become part of his carrier.
\nSince then, he has travelled to many places, such as Kangiqsualujjuaq, Pangirtung, Kuujjuaraapik, Ottawa, Brussels, Kangirsuk and Quebec City, along with many requests from his current home, Kuujjuaq.
\nThe couple is already very busy, and the request frequently comes to do a show. When they take a request, they practice in their living room, “with AC obviously,” and are ready for a show. Recently, the duo has had a lot of trips, such as the KWE! Festival, in Quebec City. Right after, in the same city, they went for the Indigenous Day for Quebec tourism, then went to Kangirsuk for a night to collaborate with Elisapie Isaac.
\nThey are now in preparation, with their Youth group, for the opening of the Aqpik Jam for the second year in Kuujjuaq, August 2023.Sandy may have limited time for throat singing and drum dancing, but it doesn\u2019t stop him from doing what he loves, with the person he loves. \u201cIf you think you can do it, practice and don\u2019t give up. If you\u2019re shy, it will go away, you can overcome it. Whatever you want to do, do it.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
