Fondatrice de Yaya inspirations et chanteuse de gorge, Janice Parsons est bien connue pour l\u2019originalit\u00e9 de ses boucles d\u2019oreilles en peau de phoque. Elle en fait depuis l\u2019\u00e2ge de 13 ans. Ses parents l\u2019ont toujours encourag\u00e9e, et lui achetaient les mat\u00e9riaux n\u00e9cessaires et la laissaient prendre des retailles de peau de phoque de sa m\u00e8re pour faire de l\u2019art et de l\u2019artisanat. Vue comme la \u00ab fashionista \u00bb de la famille, Janice en faisait tous les jours pendant sa jeunesse, pour assortir \u00e0 sa tenue et c\u2019\u00e9tait sa grande joie et fiert\u00e9 d\u2019en faire pour sa famille et amis. Sa plus grande inspiration \u00e9tait son grand-p\u00e8re, feu Charlie Gordon, qui a ouvert le magasin le plus fiable du village de Kuujjuaq, le Newviq\u2019vi. \nElle a aussi fait des cours de chant et de chants de gorge d\u00e8s l\u2019\u00e2ge de 7 ans, ce qui fait d\u2019elle une artiste multidisciplinaire depuis son jeune \u00e2ge. Son conjoint, Sandy Emudluk, a secr\u00e8tement appris le chant de gorge en \u00e9coutant Janice, et un jour l\u2019a surprise en la joignant. Ce moment d\u2019\u00e9motion fut le d\u00e9but de leur duo, et Sandy joue aussi du tambour traditionnel. Son support dans son parcours cr\u00e9atif au fil du temps et aux moments difficiles lui a fait dire : \u00ab Il m\u2019a ouvert la voie vers mes r\u00eaves \u00bb.
Quand Janice commence un projet, elle va y travailler pendant des heures cons\u00e9cutives, puisqu\u2019elle trouve \u00e7a th\u00e9rapeutique. Tellement que ses mains peuvent avoir des crampes pour quelques jours. \u00ab Tout est dans l\u2019art, aucun mot n\u2019est n\u00e9cessaire. \u00bb explique-t-elle sur comment l\u2019art dirige sa vie.
Non seulement elle a du talent en art, mais aussi dans les chiffres. Elle a travaill\u00e9 au Newviq\u2019vi pendant onze ans et pour l\u2019OMHK, en comptabilit\u00e9 pendant six ans. Son savoir pour les affaires et son implication chez les jeunes du Nunavik en tant que pr\u00e9sidente du Qarjuit Youth Council l\u2019a amen\u00e9 \u00e0 en accomplir beaucoup. Elle a cr\u00e9\u00e9 Yaya Inspirations toute seule, trouvant la force pour affronter les difficult\u00e9s qui se sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es sur son chemin.
