\nLouisa Kanarjuaq est une artiste multidisciplinaire d\u2019Ivujivik. Elle fait de la sculpture, du dessin, de la peinture et elle a \u00e9galement fait un album de musique gospel nomm\u00e9 Qaumasajiit en 2004. Elle fait aussi du chant de gorge mais elle consid\u00e8re cela plut\u00f4t comme un passe-temps, m\u00eame si \u00e0 No\u00ebl dernier elle a gagn\u00e9 un concours de chant de gorge men\u00e9 par sa communaut\u00e9 et qu\u2019elle a chant\u00e9 en solo, alors que cela s\u2019effectue habituellement \u00e0 deux chanteuses. Elle aime repr\u00e9senter sa culture et l\u2019histoire qu\u2019elle a v\u00e9cu dans son art. Lorsqu\u2019elle \u00e9tait enfant, elle vivait le mode de vie traditionnel inuit en voyageant en traineau \u00e0 chiens. Elle a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 vivre dans une maison \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de huit ans seulement. Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 professeure \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole de son village et elle est maintenant retrait\u00e9 et profite de son temps \u00e0 faire de l\u2019art aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de ses pairs \u00e0 Ivujivik dont Mary Paningajak, Qumaq Mangiuk Iyaituk, Pasa Mangiuk et Lyne Bastien. Son travail est remarquable, tr\u00e8s bien ex\u00e9cut\u00e9 et montrant de vibrantes repr\u00e9sentations des activit\u00e9s traditionnelles comme la chasse et la p\u00eache.<\/br>\nLe cheminement artistique de Louisa a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 un jeune \u00e2ge lorsqu\u2019elle a appris \u00e0 travailler la sculpture aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de ses parents. Elle se souvient d\u2019avoir vendu un de ses dessins \u00e0 la FCNQ dont elle a re\u00e7u des compliments et des encouragements \u00e0 continuer \u00e0 en faire. Elle \u00e9tait jeune \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque et elle n\u2019a pas pris le conseil au s\u00e9rieux mais attir\u00e9 par la cr\u00e9ation, elle a d\u00e9but\u00e9 une carri\u00e8re d\u2019artiste professionnelle en 2004. <\/br>\n\u00ab Il y a toujours quelque chose \u00e0 apprendre, que ce soit en faisant couture, l\u2019art ou bien des histoires comme celles que mon mari me raconte. Je suis toujours en train d\u2019apprendre et je suis impatiente de continuer \u00e0 cr\u00e9er aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de Mary, Qumaq et Pasa lorsqu\u2019il y aura un studio d\u2019artistes \u00e0 Ivujivik \u00bb dit-elle lorsqu\u2019on lui demande quels sont ses futurs plans et projets. \nLouisa est une artiste \u00e0 surveiller, ses \u0153uvres font d\u00e9j\u00e0 partie de la Collection d\u2019art du Nunavik et vont certainement voyager \u00e0 travers de grands collections.<\/br>\n\n\n\n

\nLouisa Kanarjuaq is a multidisciplinary artist based in Ivujivik. She does carving, drawing, painting and she made a gospel music album named \u201cQaumasaijiit\u201d in 2004. She also does throat singing but considers it more as a hobby, even if last Christmas she won a throat singing contest in solo held by the community, which is usually sung by two women. She likes to represent the culture and history that she witnessed in her artwork. When she was a kid, she used to live the Inuit Way of life and travelling by dog sled. She started living in a house only at eight years old. She used to be a teacher in her community school but now she is retired and enjoys making art alongside other artists from Ivujivik such as Mary Paningajak, Qumaq Mangiuk Iyaituk, Pasa Mangiok and Lyne Bastien. Her work is remarkable with very well executed and vibrant representations of traditional activities such as hunting and fishing.<\/br>\nLouisa\u2019s artistic path started at a young age when making carving by learning with her parents. She remembers selling a drawing to the FCNQ, she was told that she was very talented and to keep making art. She was young at that time and she didn\u2019t take the advice very seriously but drawn into making art, she really started a professional artist career in 2004. <\/br>\n\u201cThere is always something to learn, whether is it from sewing, by making art or stories like the one that my husband tells. I\u2019m always learning, and I am looking forward to make art with Qumaq, Pasa and Mary when Ivujivik will have an art studio\u201d she says when asked what her future plans and projects are. Louisa is an artist to follow, her work is already part of the Nunavik Art Collection and will for sure make its path to other important collections.<\/br>\n\n\n\n
