\nL\u2019an dernier, le magazine jeunesse Grilled Cheese a fait appel \u00e0 Aumaaggiivik, le Secr\u00e9tariat des arts du Nunavik, afin d\u2019inviter des artistes inuits \u00e0 participer \u00e0 leurs publications. Catherine Ouellet-Cumming et Julien Boisseau, les cr\u00e9ateurs derri\u00e8re le magazine, partageaient : \u00ab Malgr\u00e9 la diversit\u00e9 de nos collaborateurs, nous n\u2019avons jamais eu la chance de travailler avec des artistes autochtones. L\u2019objectif de cette initiative est de cr\u00e9er des liens avec des artistes du Nunavik pour qu\u2019ils deviennent des collaborateurs du magazine et nous ne sommes vraiment pas d\u00e9\u00e7us ! \u00bb. Ils ont ainsi invit\u00e9 l\u2019artiste Thomassie Mangiok \u00e0 \u00eatre responsable du contenu d\u2019une \u00e9dition sp\u00e9ciale Nunavik. Celui-ci a jumel\u00e9 avec ing\u00e9niosit\u00e9 des auteurs et illustrateurs pour ces num\u00e9ros destin\u00e9s \u00e0 des lecteurs de deux \u00e0 quatre ans et de cinq \u00e0 dix ans qui, gr\u00e2ce au soutien de Makivik et de Kativik Ilisarniliriniq, seront distribu\u00e9s \u00e0 tous les enfants \u00e0 travers les 14 villages du Nunavik. \u00ab J\u2019ai consacr\u00e9 mon travail \u00e0 cr\u00e9er du contenu culturel et montrer que n\u2019importe qui peut le faire \u00e9galement. Je me sens valoris\u00e9 et mieux lorsque je vois notre travail mis de l\u2019avant et appr\u00e9ci\u00e9\u2026 La qualit\u00e9 de ce qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 m’a rappel\u00e9, avec modestie, que les esprits cr\u00e9atifs sont abondants dans notre r\u00e9gion. \u00bb
\nCr\u00e9er de la litt\u00e9rature jeunesse et partager la culture sous une forme non-traditionnelle pour les prochaines g\u00e9n\u00e9rations est un devoir ressenti par beaucoup d\u2019artistes \u00e0 travers le Nunavik. Nicolas Pirti-Duplessis, auteur, mentionne : \u00ab Lorsque j\u2019\u00e9crivais les histoires, je m\u2019imaginais comment en tant qu\u2019enfant j\u2019aurais aim\u00e9 lire des histoires comme \u00e7a\u2026 Notre culture est si riche en histoires et anecdotes, les possibilit\u00e9s d\u2019int\u00e9resser nos enfants \u00e0 la lecture et \u00e0 notre langue sont infinies \u00bb. Hannah Tooktoo, artiste visuelle derri\u00e8re la cr\u00e9ation des deux couvertures, souligne : \u00ab J\u2019ai ador\u00e9 cette exp\u00e9rience, lire les histoires et tenter de capturer ce que l\u2019auteur voulais transmettre\u2026 Je suis heureuse que les enfants aient acc\u00e8s \u00e0 des histoires cr\u00e9\u00e9es par des Inuits pour les Inuits ! \u00bb Thomassie Mangiok rajoute : \u00ab Je me sens honor\u00e9 d\u2019avoir l\u2019occasion de cr\u00e9er un impact que les enfants m\u00e9ritent dans leurs vies. Les enfants devraient c\u00e9l\u00e9brer leur identit\u00e9, ils devraient sentir qu\u2019ils peuvent se retrouver \u00e0 travers les autres dans les m\u00e9dias. \u00bb et il est heureux que le magazine sera disponible dans les trois langues parl\u00e9es au Nunavik.

\nLast year, the children magazine Grilled Cheese contacted Aumaaggiivik, the Nunavik Arts Secretariat, to invite Inuit artists to contribute to their publications. Catherine Ouellet-Cumming and Julien Boisseau, the creators behind the magazine shared: \u201cAlthough the diversity of our collaborators, we never had a chance to work with indigenous artists. The goal of this initiative is to create a connection with the artists of Nunavik so they could become collaborators of the magazine and we are not disappointed!\u201d. Therefore, they invited artist Thomassie Mangiok to manage the content for a special Nunavik edition. He assigned writers and illustrators for theses numbers intended for children ages two to four years old and to five to ten years old that, thanks to Makivik and Kativik Ilisarniliriq, will be distributed to all children across the fourteen villages of Nunavik. \u201cI\u2019ve dedicated my work to create cultural content and to show that anyone can do the same, I feel empowered and better when I see our work being valued and enjoyed\u2026 Humbling, the quality of everything created reminded me that creative minds are plentiful in our region.\u201d
\nCreate children literature and share the culture through a non-traditional form for the next generations is a duty felt among various artists in Nunavik. Nicolas Pirti-Duplessis, writer, mentions: \u201cWhen I was writing the stories, I imagined myself as a child and how I would have loved to ear stories of this kind\u2026 Our culture is so rich in stories and anecdotes, the possibility to make our children interested in reading and in our language is infinite\u201d. Hannah Tooktoo, visual artist behind both of the covers highlights: \u201cI loved this experience, reading the stories and trying to capture what the writer wanted to transmit\u2026 I am happy that children will have access to stories written by Inuit for Inuit!\u201d Thomassie Mangiok added that \u2018\u2019I feel honored to have an opportunity to have an impact in their life; they deserve such material. Children should celebrate their identity; they should feel that they can relate by seeing others like them in media.\u2019\u2019 and he is happy that the magazine will be available in the three languages spoken in Nunavik.
