Isaac Partridge est un artiste multidisciplinaire bispirituel. C’est sa m\u00e8re, Taqralik Partridge, qui lui a enseign\u00e9 l\u2019art du perlage d\u00e8s l’\u00e2ge de quatre ans, mais ce n’est que deux d\u00e9cennies plus tard qu’il a v\u00e9ritablement commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 le pratiquer. Au fil des ans, il a franchi toutes les \u00e9tapes menant \u00e0 la ma\u00eetrise de son art, malgr\u00e9 les difficult\u00e9s rencontr\u00e9es pour cr\u00e9er ses propres motifs originaux et apprendre des techniques de perlage complexes. Il puise son inspiration dans tous les aspects de sa vie : son \u00e9ducation en tant que Mohawk et Inuit, sa relation m\u00e8re-fils, ainsi que dans la culture pop japonaise.
\nEn 2020, il a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019exposition en ligne Debout ensemble \u00e0 travers l\u2019art, o\u00f9 il a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 sa vision de la pand\u00e9mie en dessins. Cette exp\u00e9rience a \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s enrichissante, et il se r\u00e9jouit que les organisateurs aient reconnu en lui un artiste prometteur. \u00ab Il est positif de constater que de nouveaux artistes b\u00e9n\u00e9ficient d’un soutien \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9. En 2022, sa m\u00e8re l\u2019a invit\u00e9, avec sa s\u0153ur Akinasi Partridge, \u00e0 prendre part \u00e0 un projet d\u2019envergure : un amautik sur toile intitul\u00e9 Nunami. Cette \u0153uvre a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e dans le cadre de l\u2019exposition \u00ab\u2009Notre territoire, notre art\u2009\u00bb au Mus\u00e9e canadien de la nature, \u00e0 Ottawa. Isaac a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 le travail de perlage de l\u2019amautik, s\u2019inspirant de la flore et de la faune nordiques. \u00ab\u2009J\u2019\u00e9tais tr\u00e8s heureux et fier de participer \u00e0 cette exposition\u2009\u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9.
\nIsaac s\u2019int\u00e9resse \u00e9galement au th\u00e9\u00e2tre et au cin\u00e9ma. Il a notamment particip\u00e9 \u00e0 une pi\u00e8ce de th\u00e9\u00e2tre avec la troupe Aaqsiiq, assumant des responsabilit\u00e9s li\u00e9es \u00e0 la gestion des accessoires et des prises de vue, tout en interpr\u00e9tant un r\u00f4le. Il a incarn\u00e9 Itsi, un homme chauve qui montrait ses fesses le mauvais temps. Il aimait cette touche d\u2019autod\u00e9rision humoristique. Il a \u00e9galement r\u00e9alis\u00e9 un film intitul\u00e9 Illuunnata Silami, portant sur les jeunes 2SLGBTQ+ vivant en milieu urbain et la mani\u00e8re dont les cultures et les communaut\u00e9s autochtones se transforment et \u00e9voluent gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 eux, malgr\u00e9 les d\u00e9fis auxquels ils sont confront\u00e9s. Il a pu r\u00e9aliser ce film avec l\u2019aide de sa famille et de sa communaut\u00e9.
\nIsaac participera prochainement \u00e0 de nombreux \u00e9v\u00e9nements passionnants, notamment l\u2019exposition collectif Qillaniq, qui se tiendra \u00e0 la Galerie nationale du Canada du 11 juin au 20 septembre. Cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement permet aux artistes de s\u2019exprimer librement et de cr\u00e9er des \u0153uvres originales, malgr\u00e9 le contexte colonial dans lequel nous vivons. Il y pr\u00e9sentera un portrait perl\u00e9 repr\u00e9sentant son grand-p\u00e8re, intitul\u00e9 Threads of Imaapik. Il participera au festival du film queer de Toronto ainsi qu\u2019au programme de mentorat du Collectif des commissaires autochtones, en tant que mentor\u00e9, de mai \u00e0 septembre. Il est \u00e9galement inscrit au programme Tigulavut, un programme de formation en cin\u00e9ma et t\u00e9l\u00e9vision destin\u00e9 aux jeunes Inuit, d\u00e9butant \u00e0 Ottawa le 1er juin et se terminant \u00e0 Iqaluit en juillet. Pour lui, l\u2019art est un moyen d\u2019expression qui lui permet de raconter des histoires d\u2019un point de vue personnel. Son art est profond\u00e9ment ancr\u00e9 dans sa vie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Isaac Patridge is a 2-spirit multidisciplinary artist. His mother, Taqralik Partridge, taught him how to do beadwork at the age of 4, but it was only after 20 years that he was encouraged to resume his practice. Over the years he got through the steps of mastering his art despite all the challenges to create his own original designs and learning complex beading techniques. He gets his inspirations from all sorts of things in his life: his upbringing as a mohawk and inuk, his mother and son relationship and the Japanese pop culture. In 2020, Isaac was a part of the online exhibition Standing Together Through Art, where he had the opportunity to present his own perspective on the pandemic in drawings. This was a meaningful opportunity for him, and he was glad that the organizers saw some potential in him. He added \u201cit was good to see new artists getting support\u201d. In 2022, his mother invited his sister Akinasi Partridge and him to make a large canvas amautik art piece, called Nunami, to be presented in Our Land, Our Art exhibition at the Canadian Musuem of Nature in Ottawa. Isaac\u2019s task was to do the beadwork of the amautik, inspired by the flora and fauna of the North. He said \u201cI was very happy and proud to be a part of the exhibition\u201d.
\nIsaac is also involved in Theater and Film. He was a part of a play with Aaqsiiq, helping with the props, filming and even performing. He had performed as a bald man named Itsi showing his cheeks for good weather; he liked the self-deprecation for humour. Partridge also made a film called Illuunnata Silami, in which he focuses on 2SLGBTQ+ youth living in urban centres and how Indigenous cultures and communities grow and evolve with young people despite the challenges they face. He was able to create the film with the help of his family and community.
\nCurrently Isaac is having many wonderful events coming up. He is part of the upcoming group exhibition called Qillaniq at the National Gallery of Canada opening on June 11th and up until September 20th. The event has the artists express themselves truly, where they can create art out of the norm, despite the colonial foundations we live under. Isaac is presenting a beaded portrait of his grandfather titled Threads of Imaapik. Isaac is also attending the Toronto Queer Film Festival and Indigenous Curatorial Collective mentorship as a mentee, From May to September. And he is also part of the Tigulavut training program, a film and television training program for inuit youth starting in Ottawa on June 1st and finishing in Iqaluit in July. Art to Isaac is an outlet to express himself and tell stories from his perspective. His art is deeply connected to his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
