Olivia a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00e9crire plus tardivement, pendant ses \u00e9tudes au programme Nunavik Sivunitsavut. Elle s\u2019est d\u2019abord consacr\u00e9e \u00e0 la po\u00e9sie, \u00e9crivant sur les lieux, la m\u00e9moire et l\u2019identit\u00e9 inuit. Son \u00e9criture a rapidement \u00e9t\u00e9 remarqu\u00e9e, car ses po\u00e8mes Nuna<\/em> ont remport\u00e9 le concours litt\u00e9raire Hannenorak en 2022 et figurent dans l\u2019ouvrage Autour du feu\/Around the Fire<\/em>.
Elle s\u2019est ensuite tourn\u00e9e vers les arts de la sc\u00e8ne et le cin\u00e9ma. Elle a jou\u00e9 aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de Niap<\/em> (Nancy Saunders) dans Aalaapi<\/em>, puis a collabor\u00e9 avec elle sur des pi\u00e8ces de cr\u00e9ation orale. Ses paroles sont sinc\u00e8res et directes, et abordent des probl\u00e8mes r\u00e9els auxquels les Inuit sont confront\u00e9s.
Elle a \u00e9galement particip\u00e9 \u00e0 des projets communautaires et aupr\u00e8s des jeunes. Elle a notamment \u00e9t\u00e9 membre du Conseil jeunesse Qarjuit, o\u00f9 elle a contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 cr\u00e9er un espace permettant aux jeunes Inuit de s\u2019exprimer et de participer \u00e0 la vie politique. Elle croit que “les jeunes Inuit n\u2019ont pas besoin d\u2019une formation sp\u00e9ciale pour devenir des leaders, car ils poss\u00e8dent d\u00e9j\u00e0 toutes les qualit\u00e9s requises.”
En 2025, elle a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019organisation d\u2019une marche pour marquer l\u2019anniversaire de la fusillade polici\u00e8re \u00e0 Salluit ayant impliqu\u00e9 les jumeaux Joshua et Garnet Papigatuk. Elle s\u2019est ensuite tourn\u00e9e vers le cin\u00e9ma pour aborder des sujets difficiles concernant la situation au Nunavik.
Elle r\u00e9alise actuellement plusieurs documentaires pour Nikan Productions. L\u2019un d\u2019entre eux porte sur la brutalit\u00e9 polici\u00e8re au Nunavik et devrait sortir en 2028. Elle r\u00e9alise \u00e9galement Inuguiniq<\/em>, un documentaire personnel sur les traditions inuit en mati\u00e8re d\u2019accouchement, dans lequel Olivia et sa fille apprennent au sujet du pass\u00e9 et de leur communaut\u00e9. Le film devrait sortir \u00e0 l\u2019automne 2027.
Olivia a \u00e9galement r\u00e9alis\u00e9 une s\u00e9rie documentaire en six \u00e9pisodes o\u00f9 elle parcourt l\u2019Inuit Nunangat pour partager des r\u00e9cits au sujet des territoires, de la culture et de la vie quotidienne des peuples autochtones du Nord. La premi\u00e8re saison sera diffus\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019automne 2026 sur APTN, Explora et d\u2019autres cha\u00eenes. Elle a \u00e9galement particip\u00e9 \u00e0 la s\u00e9rie documentaire de la CBC, Telling Our Story<\/em>.
Parall\u00e8lement, elle cr\u00e9e des \u0153uvres d\u2019art en p\u00e2te polym\u00e8re qu\u2019elle a expos\u00e9es lors de la Foire commerciale Aqsarniit<\/em> et dans des ventes d\u2019artisanat local. Elle a \u00e9galement fabriqu\u00e9 des bijoux et esp\u00e8re se remettre \u00e0 cette activit\u00e9 d\u00e8s que son emploi du temps le lui permettra. Entre son travail cr\u00e9atif, ses activit\u00e9s de consultante et l\u2019\u00e9ducation de ses enfants, elle est tr\u00e8s occup\u00e9e, mais la cr\u00e9ation demeure une part importante de sa vie.
Olivia croit que “les jeunes Inuit peuvent tout accomplir: voyager, apprendre et raconter nos histoires c’est important.” Elle continue par son travail de cr\u00e9er un espace o\u00f9 les Inuit peuvent s’exprimer avec force et honn\u00eatet\u00e9, en restant fid\u00e8les \u00e0 eux-m\u00eames.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From there, Olivia moved into performance and film. She acted alongside Niap<\/em> (Nancy Saunders) in Aalaapi<\/em> and later worked with Niap<\/em> on spoken word pieces. Her words are honest and direct, touching on real issues Inuit live with today.Olivia has also been involved in community and youth work. She was a member of the Qarjuit Youth Council, helping create space for Inuit youth to speak up and be part of politics. She believes “Inuit youth don\u2019t need special training to lead\u2014they already have what they need.”
In 2025, Olivia helped organize a march marking the anniversary of the police shooting in Salluit involving twins Joshua and Garnet Papigatuk. After this, she turned more strongly to film as a way to talk about hard truths and bring attention to issues affecting Nunavik.She is currently directing several documentaries with Nikan Productions. One focuses on police brutality in Nunavik and is planned for release in 2028. She is also directing Inuguiniq, a personal documentary about Inuit birthing traditions, following Olivia and her daughter as they learn from the past and their community, The film is expected in fall 2027.
Olivia has also been directing a six-part documentary series travelling across Inuit Nunangat, sharing stories about the land, culture, and everyday life of northern Indigenous peoples. The first season will air in fall 2026 on APTN, Explora, and other networks. She also took part in the CBC docu-series Telling Our Story<\/em>. Alongside film, Olivia creates handmade clay art, which she has shown at the Aqsarniit<\/em> Trade Show and local craft sales. She has also made jewelry and hopes to return to it when time allows. Between her creative work, consulting, and raising a family, she stays busy\u2014but creating is always part of her life.
Olivia believes “Inuit youth can do anything and that travel, learning, and storytelling are important.” Through her work, she continues to build space for Inuit voices\u2014strong, honest, and rooted in who we are.<\/p>\n\n\n
