Etua a de l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat pour la musique d\u00e8s l\u2019enfance. Lorsqu\u2019il est adolescent, il commence \u00e0 jouer de la guitare en autodidacte. Il se dit chanceux que les gens ont appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 sa musique et l\u2019ont encourag\u00e9 \u00e0 enregistrer ses premiers albums. Il a \u00e9galement commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 faire de la sculpture sur st\u00e9atite en joignant un groupe d\u2019ain\u00e9s de sa communaut\u00e9.
Il a enregistr\u00e9 son premier album, Nunaga<\/em>, en 1995, et son 2e album Artic Darkness<\/em>, en 1998. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 laur\u00e9at du prix Meilleur album rock en 2012 lors du Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Award pour son album Culture Shock<\/em>. Cet album a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 sous son nom d\u2019artiste, Sinuupa, une transposition en caract\u00e8res romains de la forme syllabique de son nom de famille anglicis\u00e9, Snowball. En effet, le nom de famille Aputiarjurq (balle de neige) a \u00e9t\u00e9 traduit par Snowball en anglais autrefois par des fonctionnaires. Etua a enregistr\u00e9 trois albums et il travaille sur un album qui devrait sortir prochainement. Il \u00e9crit principalement en inuktitut. Il souhaite que la langue inuite continue d\u2019\u00e9voluer pour ne pas courir \u00e0 sa perte, mais tout en gardant la richesse des mots de ses anc\u00eatres.
Etua s\u2019int\u00e9resse \u00e0 plusieurs disciplines artistiques. Il est le type de personne \u00e0 vouloir essayer de nouvelles exp\u00e9riences. Le tournage du film Rivi\u00e8re sans repos<\/em> fut la premi\u00e8re fois o\u00f9 il a jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le de grande envergure au cin\u00e9ma. \u00ab Au d\u00e9but, j\u2019\u00e9tais sens\u00e9 seulement louer ma cabine et finalement, je suis devenu un des acteurs principaux du film. \u00bb dit-il. Il est all\u00e9 en Croatie pour la premi\u00e8re du film et c\u2019est aussi \u00e0 ce moment qu\u2019il s\u2019est vu au grand \u00e9cran. \u00ab L\u00e0-bas, les personnes ont d\u00e9montr\u00e9 beaucoup d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat pour qui nous sommes, d\u2019o\u00f9 nous venons et pour notre culture. \u00bb Motiv\u00e9 par son propre cheminement, Etua encourage les jeunes Inuits \u00e0 saisir la chance de vivre de nouvelles exp\u00e9riences lorsqu\u2019elles se pr\u00e9sentent \u00e0 eux.

Etua Snowball from Kuujjuaq is a multidisciplinary artist, including a singer\/songwriter and carver. He is also a Director of Education Services for Kativik Ilisarniliriniq, the Nunavik school board. Etua has had an interest in music since childhood. When he was a teenager, he started playing guitar as a self-taught. He says he is lucky that people liked his music and encouraged him to record albums. He also began soapstone carving by joining a group of elders from his community.
He recorded his first album, \u201cNunaga\u201d, in 1995, and 2nd<\/sup>album, \u201cArctic Darkness\u201d, in 1998. He won the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards for Best Rock Album in 2012 for his album “Culture Shock”. This album was created under his artist\u2019s name, Sinuupa, which is a transposition in roman characters of the syllabic form of his anglicized last name, Snowball. As a matter of fact, the surname Aputiarjurq (snowball) was formerly translated to Snowball by the officials. Etua has recorded three albums and is working on a new one that should come out soon. He writes mostly in Inuktitut. He wants the language to continue to evolve so it will not die but says that it is also important to keep the words of his ancestors.
Etua is interested in several artistic disciplines. He\u2019s the type of person who tries new experiences. The shooting of the film \u201cRestless River\u201d was the first time he played a major role in a movie. “At first, I was supposed to just rent my cabin and finally, I became one of the main actors of the film. ” he said. He went to Croatia for the premiere of the film and it was also at that moment that he saw himself on the big screen. “There, people have shown a lot of interest about who we are, where we come from and for our culture.\u201d Led by his own experience, Etua also encourages Inuit youth to seize opportunities to live new experiences when they come. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
