Le mot pour oie en inuktitut est Nirliq<\/em>, qui est le son qu’ils imitent. Le mot qui signifie faim est le gargouillement du ventre qui a faim, Quluarartuq<\/em>. \u00ab Nous devons comprendre le comportement de l’environnement qui est, par cons\u00e9quent, connect\u00e9 \u00e0 la langue. \u00bb Les sons reli\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019environnement nordique ont \u00e9t\u00e9 enseign\u00e9s \u00e0 travers le chant de gorge : \u00abNos anc\u00eatres vivaient dans la famine et quand ils ont compos\u00e9 une chanson sur le son d’un estomac affam\u00e9, je ne peux qu’imaginer ce qu’ils ont v\u00e9cu. Avec respect et honneur (lorsque je fais du chant de gorge), je ne vais pas simplement essayer de ressembler \u00e0 un estomac affam\u00e9, je dois comprendre l\u2019histoire de cet art. \u00bb
En tant qu’enseignante, Evie souhaite que les cours soient enseign\u00e9s en inuktitut dans les coll\u00e8ges et les universit\u00e9s. Elle est actuellement professeure \u00e0 Nunavik Sivunitsavut, un programme postsecondaire et pr\u00e9-universitaire d\u2019enseignement de l’histoire et la culture des Nunavimmiut. Evie Mark a effectu\u00e9 des tourn\u00e9es de chants de gorge \u00e0 l\u2019internationale, elle est \u00e9galement cin\u00e9aste et couturi\u00e8re. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Evie Mark, multidisciplinary artist and teacher at Nunavik Sivunitsavut shares her personal growth with Inuktitut. As a child she left her community to live down south and when she came back to Ivujivik she had to regain her Inuktitut and it took her a year to be fluent. At first, she felt disconnected not speaking the language. The land where people live is very connected to who they are, their language and also throat singing, which is being taught to younger generations after the ban of the practice was lifted in the 80\u2019s. The word for goose in Inuktitut is Nirliq<\/em> which is the sound they mimic. The word for hunger is the growling of a hungry belly, Quluarartuq<\/em>. \u201cWe have to understand the behavior of the environment therefore, it connects with the language.\u201d The sounds of the northern environment were taught through throat singing: \u201cOur ancestors use to live starvation so when they composed a song about the sound of a hungry stomach, I can only imagine what they went through. With respect and honor, (when I throat sing) I\u2019m not just going to try to sound like a hungry stomach, I have to understand the history of the art.\u201d
As a teacher, Evie wishes in the future that courses will be taught in Inuktitut in colleges and universities. She is currently a teacher at Nunavik Sivunitsavut, a post-secondary and pre-college teaching program in Nunavimmiut history and culture. Evie Mark has performed throat signing internationally, she is also a filmmaker and a seamstress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
